Micro, Mini & Standard Bernedoodles: What’s the Difference?

We breed three sizes of Bernedoodle, so families can choose the fit that suits their home and lifestyle:

  • Micro Bernedoodle — estimated adult weight of 15–20 lbs. Our smallest size, well suited to apartments and smaller homes.
  • Miniature Bernedoodle — estimated adult weight of 20–40 lbs. A versatile mid-size dog, popular with families wanting a compact but sturdy companion.
  • Standard Bernedoodle — estimated adult weight of 70–90 lbs. Closer to the size of the Bernese Mountain Dog side of the breed, great for families with more space and an active household.

All three sizes share the same low-shedding coat, affectionate temperament, and intelligence that make Bernedoodles such popular family dogs.

Why Families Choose My BerneDoodle Farm

  • Home-raised, not kennel-raised. Every litter is born and raised inside our home, so puppies are exposed to everyday family life, kids, other pets, household sounds, from their first weeks.
  • Puppy Culture program. Starting around 2–3 weeks, puppies are introduced to different textures, sounds, and experiences, followed by early crate and litter-tray training around 4 weeks. This head start makes the transition to your home much smoother.
  • Health-tested parents. Our breeding dogs are health-tested before joining our program, which lowers the risk of inherited health issues common to the breed.
  • Reservation Guarantee. Every reservation is backed by our guarantee — see our [Reservation Guarantee page] for full details.
  • Guardian Home Program. Interested in raising a future breeding dog instead of purchasing outright? Learn more on our [Guardian Home Program page].

Bernedoodle Colors & Coat Types

Bernedoodle coloring and coat pattern vary litter to litter, and can include tri-color, phantom, sable, and black-and-white (bi-color) markings, along with wavy or curly low-shedding coats. Because coloring depends on the specific parents in a litter, check current availability above for what’s on hand right now, or join our waitlist to be notified when a color or pattern you’re hoping for is expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your Bernedoodle puppies cost? Pricing varies by size and litter, see our Pricing page for current rates, or check the individual puppy listings above.

What’s the difference between a Micro, Mini, and Standard Bernedoodle? It comes down to adult size: Micro Bernedoodles typically reach 15–20 lbs, Minis 20–40 lbs, and Standards 70–90 lbs. Temperament and coat type are similar across all three, the main difference is how much dog you’re bringing home.

Are Bernedoodles hypoallergenic? Bernedoodles are considered low-shedding and are often a good fit for people with mild allergies, though no dog is 100% hypoallergenic. If allergies are a concern, we recommend spending time with a Bernedoodle before committing.
